Celebrating MOM

For Mom's 60th Birthday we gathered together in Pagosa Springs Colordado to celebrate mom's birthday and had great fun hiking, playing/tubing in the river, bike riding, sitting in the hot springs and just catching up!
On the day of mom's birthday we went out to breakfast with just the "originals" So much fun, I think it was a treat for all of us. Katy said she can't ever remember it just being the 7 of us!The sun was a tad bright as we posed for this picture!!
The night of mom's birthday we suprised her with a 1950's party and dressed the part! It was a little funny getting her out of the house... we had to tell her she could take a nap or a bike ride - she chose a bike ride that lasted a long time :)
Here we are dressed and waiting for the guest of honor!
Elvis is in the house!!!!
Marilyn Monroe and Elvis pause for a pose!
!!!SUPRISE!!!
Finally after all these years she gets to dance with Elvis
Mom was completely shocked at our 1950's surprise party
She was also shocked to see Elvis at her party let alone an Elvis impersonator!!
The evening wouldn't have been complete with out fine dining. We decided to make Lasagna because it was one of the many dishes that mom taught us all how to make. For tonight dad made it and it was delicious..... after dinner it was back to the dance floor.

Marilyn was kind of sweet on all the guys tonight but this last one was who she came and left with!
Mom closed the evening with sharing her thoughts on turning 60 and and how blessed she feels - we too are blessed to call you mom!
We danced until we couldn't dance anymore! Happy Birthday Mom!
It was an evening we will always treasure and it was a joy to get to honor you

Date Night

Kacey and Jeff went to a Daddy Daughter Dinner hosted by a man who attends our church. They had such a sweet time together. The guest speaker was one of our pastors with his college age daughter who spoke on inner beauty! It was a precious night out for the two of them. Jeff had to tell Kacey something about herself that spoke of her inner beauty. Which he shared with her about how thoughtful and kind she is towards others and used a recent example of us celebrating our anniversary in Breckenridge and she wanted to call Grammy and invite her to the party because she was home alone!
Kacey loved getting all dressed up and being treated like the princess of the evening!
On that same night I asked Breck if he would like to go on a date with me and where he would like to take me to eat! Which he chose McDonalds! So here we are ready to go on our date.. the contrast in these pictures makes me laugh because they are so telling of each of my kids' personalities.
After our dinner at McDonalds we went to Lokomotion for miniature golf and then road the bumper boats. Which we were the only ones in the water and Breck had to ride with me and he still thought it was the best part of the whole evening! But my favorite memory was when we left because Breck put his elbow out for me to take and he walked me to the car, opened my door to let me in and then closed it and crawled into the back seat! It was so sweet yet funny that "my date" had to crawl in the back seat that I wasn't sure if I wanted to laugh or cry! We then met up with Kacey and Jeff at Sonic and enjoyed ice cream at their picnic tables to end our evening.

A fun weekend with the Shirley Kids

A couple weekends ago we had the privilege of keeping the Shirley Kids while there parents had an overnight get away for their anniversay. It was an action packed weekend full of fun kids stuff! It all began with an afternoon of play on the waterslide.

Rustin was not sure he wanted to participate in this crazy activity.

The girls had a blast taking a very bubbly bubble bath and then they put on a fashion show with all the dresses Kacey has outgrown!

Here is their fan club. Such gentleman to sit and watch their sisters model one outfit after another and cheer every time!
Probably the thing that excited them the most was that they built this fire all by themselves. They were SO proud of themselves! Jamie had left us some sparklers to do that she had left over from the 4th so I had the kids throw the sticks in the fire pit which began to catch the dried leaves that were in there on fire so I let them add some wood and presto! They had themselves a fire. So we had ourselves a marshmellow roast as well.
We then came in and got our pj's on and had a movie party before crawling into bed! Unfortantely I didn't get any pictures from our second day together but we enjoyed time at the pool, riding bikes and scooters plus playing a game of baseball! They all had a blast and were sad to see it come to a close!
